The novel asks 'whose stories get to be told and whose buried.'). Coffee will be provided. For more information, contact Nancy Salmi at 218–326–3147 or nsalmi@earthlink.net.

Grand Rapids AAUW Board Meeting Minutes
Monday, November 25, 2024

Susan LaVelle, President, called the meeting to order. additional attendees were Janis Johnson, Karen Karls, Linda johnson and Vicki Holmstrom.

Secretary's report: Karen Karl's moved the minutes from the previous board meeting. Be approved as read. Janis Johnson seconded did the motion. Minutes were approved.

Treasurer's report: 79 members have now paid dues for the 2024 to 2025 year. The bank account currently has a balance of $5959. $1542 of that is dedicated to scholarships. This leaves $4417 available to spend.

Membership: We have had four new members join since the October meeting.

Programs: Everything is set.

Communications: There will not be an article for the December meeting in the Harold Review since it is a closed meeting.

Dinner/food: The RSVP link for the December meeting will be in the December newsletter, but since the meeting is coming up so quickly, we will have an extra RSVP reminder sent out before that. People can pay at the meeting. The price has gone up to $32 per year.

We also discussed changing the visibility of where the RSVP appears in the newsletter and changing the heading of the newsletter so that AAUW Timberline appears first in the subject line.

We have switched to using disposable cups for coffee. Those cups are placed next to the coffee maker for Members to take back to their table. Not having the China cups at every spot on the table saves a lot of dishwashing.

Scholarships: If anyone has ideas for how to disseminate information about our business scholarship opportunity, please pass those ideas on to Kathleen Spencer.

New Business: We discussed the Northland gathering in Grand Rapids in October 20025. Our chapter will be in charge of putting on this meeting. The first thing to be done is to reserve a meeting site and caterers. Linda Johnson said that our current caterers are very interested in being involved with this meeting. We are currently talking with the Methodist Church about about cost and space availability.

Adjournment: Linda Johnson moved the meeting be adjourned. Karen Karl's second in the motion.

Respectfully submitted by
Vicki Holmstrom, Secretary
