 AAUW SUMMER PROGRAMS 2021

Join us for four fun community outings that will typically include a brief tour or program and lunch.

Monday, June 21, 10:30 am, Central Square Mall: Visit “Crafted”, the Lifestyle Options nonprofit gift store. See many great inexpensive, fun items and gifts for sale. Also, visit the on-site workshop. Lunch at the mall to follow.

Hibbing: Hull Annex Rust Mine Tour, Tues, June 29

Meet at Juliet Jones' at 454 Trout Lake Road at 11:45a.m. Lunch at Boom Town Brewery in Hibbing on Howard Street at 12:30, then go to the Hull Annex Mine on Penobscot Road.

That way people can stay as long as they wish. This historic spot is open 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

A docent will be on the spot to give as much information as we need and there is a gift shop.

The largest iron ore mine in the USA! No admission fee and donations are accepted.

July [date & time to be decided] Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital Gift Shop tour. Hannah Chesness, Gift Shop Manager & Volunteer Coordinator, will meet with us. Lunch to follow in hospital cafeteria, which has an outdoor patio and overlooks scenic hiking trail.

Monday, August 16, Center Yoga and NoPo Coffee Shop. Details to come.

EXPLORING OUR COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

1) First Friday/Bowls, Beer & Bits, July 2, 6:00-8:30 pm at MacRostie Art Center, 405 NW 1st Ave, Grand Rapids
Register on your own, $45 per person (for all, MacRostie member or not). Call 326-2697 or register at the MacRostie in person or on the website. Two bowls to be glazed, plus two drinks of your choice and appetizers. Bowls will be in the kiln all fired up and can be retrieved in a few days. Apart from the cost, we are supporting the ARTS to keep them alive in our community! Class is filling up fast, so RSVP ASAP.

2) Effie Stampede/Rodeo, Saturday, July 24, 2:00 pm, 68270 County Rd 5

If desired, carpool from Juliet Jones' at 454 Trout Lake Rd (Co Rd 21), 6/10 of a mile on the Prairie River side. Park across from the travel trailer. Meet at 12:30 p.m. Late lunch/early dinner at 4:00-4:30 pm at Timberwolf Inn, 50021 Jack the Horse Rd, Marcell, 218-832-3907. RSVP to Juliet at kcjones50@yahoo.com by Sat, July 17. Spouses, friends and family are welcome. Entrance fee for the rodeo is $13/person.

3) Pokegama Golf Course, Mon, Aug 9, 5:00 pm
We will be having a program at Pokegama Golf Course 
⛳ with a meal, sandwiches/burgers/wraps/salads all for $12.00 a person with tax included.

After our Happy Hour, the dining room will be closed off for AAUW for the dinner at 6:00 pm. After dinner, Bob Cahill will present a program about the Pokegama Golf Course and its history. Please RSVP to Juliet Jones at kcjones50@yahoo.com by Mon, Aug 2.
